Masters Swim Workout

If I am honest with myself, six weeks ago I could not swim 750 meters (with numerous breaks). Scared shitless knowing that I had to tackle a .5 mile swim, I followed Coach Dave's advice and began attending Masters Swim workouts at the MAC. That is where I met Coach Thomas, who I credit with my time in my first event. He has gone above and beyond leading workouts to help me improve my swimming immeasurably, both technically and physiologically. Thomas never let's us cheat ourselves when it comes to effort and distance.

Tonight was another in a long line of murderous workouts. Let me give you a taste...

Warmup:
400 free
300 breast
200 back
100 butterfly

Main:
75 x 10 kick

100 free
50 x 10 sprint

25 x 10 free 1 Breath

100 free 3:1
100 free 5:1
100 free 7:1
100 free 5:1
100 free 3:1

500 free pull

100 back skull

TOTAL: 3700 yards

The above workout was considered light because the triathletes (only two of us attended tonight) had our event this last weekend so he did not take us over 4000. While these workouts are insidious, Thomas is a stud.

In other news, Melissa has asked when I am going to buy her a cowbell for my next race...as in she wants one soon. Looks like I am off to the local farm store!
